Jeremiah Oseni, Africa's most promising education entrepreneur


Who is Jeremiah? 

Jeremiah Oseni is a 24 years old graduate of psychological education and biological sciences. Who have decided to affect his environment and generation with his youthful and positive vibes.  He is a serial entrepreneur, a public speaker and a philanthropist. Jeremiah is the founder and Executive Director of Dbegotin Educational Foundation.

He had his basic and secondary education in Edo State and obtained his first school leaving certificate in Grocing Group of Schools and obtained his SSCE from Holy Trinity Grammar School, Sabon-gida Ora. After which he relocated to do a diploma in computer science in Duben Polytechnic, Bwari, Abuja. He  graduated with "double honours" in B.Sc ED from the prestigious university of ABUJA in 2007.

 Jeremiah Oseni is an award winning Toastmaster and a certified member of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria.

How did it all started for you? 

It all started  in 2012 after the release annual report on general examinations  across Nigeria. We noticed the mass failure of students and it was really shocking to me. So I decided to carry out a research to know the main cause of mass failure in general examinations across Nigeria, and afterwards we discovered that 79% of the sampled population blamed the mess on "lack of adequate preparation on the part of the students". So we decided to attempt to solve the problem. After that we all came together as a team, had several retreats and training which helped us plan out, carve out and outline the our vision, mission, programs and modes of operations for the organization and of cos every necessary documentations and registrations done... And now (2017), we are covering Gwagwalada area council, our weekly programs hold in each school with our ambassadors anchoring it..

What do you stand for as a young person who wants a shift from the norms? 

I stand for Good morals, Equality, Purposeful Living, quality education, self esteem and Godliness.

What is the motivating factor that drives you daily? 

Basically, what drives me daily is the zeal to make "my immediate environment" a safer, Peaceful, Loving place to live in.... I enjoy contributing to humanity.

What project are you currently running and how far have you gone? 

Currently I am running a literacy enhancement project which had a goal of reducing the rate of mass failure in general examinations such a WAEC/NECO/GCE and also Jamb.
Secondly, we have an annual spelling bee event that comes up on September 8th of every year (which also is world literacy day).
More so, I also have a program for gender balance in primary schools across the nation. This is achieved via WALKS, RADIO JINGLES and Schools Sensitization Visits.

Next, We are moving to the remaining area councils of the FCT to cover it all. Then in February of 2018 we will be activating our medium term goal which is to occupy 3 neighboring States to the FCT which we are already covering..

How do you get funding to achieve all this? 

From inception till now our funds have been internally generated. The executives coming together to contribute/sponsor every of our needs. At the moment We've not started approaching or soliciting for  sponsorship yet but maybe in the nearest future that could be put into consideration.
