5 Most Anticipated Hip-hop Albums of the Summer



So, 2017 is the year in music that continues to give over and over again. During the first quarter of the year, we have already received new EPs from Runtown (mad over you), Davido (IF), Wizkid (Sweet Love), Tekno (Rara) and Mr. Eazi (Leg Over). And with summer drawing near, you can be sure that other artistes are taking notice and prepping to release their projects to the delight of fans eardrums and playlists.

Here are the top five most anticipated albums of the summer

1.   Runtown’s “Mad Over You”, a song that appeals to everyone, around the African continent, with input from three industry giant producers, which is alleged to be released on March 7. This announces the re-emergence of Runtown after a nerve wrecking 2016 for the artist.

2.  “OBO” as he is fondly called by his loyal fans broke a long silence from the music industry. The artiste decided to break the silence with a well crafted upbeat tempo song titled in one word “if”, which of course will remind all pop music lovers what Davido is capable of dishing out to his fans. The first song coming from his 2017 EP “Son of Mercy” produced by fellow industry giant artist and producer Tekno is certainly ready to top the music charts of 2017.

3.    Mr. Eazi’s "Leg Over." From the soon to drop mixtape of Mr. Eazi titled “Accra to Lagos”, comes the creatively delivered song with a song hook and song titled Leg Over coming off from the starboy rave of the moment who in his own word “Life is Easy” is surely set to walk shoulder tall in 2017.  Song crafted and produced by one of the Nigeria’s biggest music producer Ekelly. Leg Over for sure is catching a lot of attention on both radio and television and we look forward to a successful year ahead for Mr. Eazi.

4.    Wizkid is arguably one of Africa’s biggest stars. He collaborated with Drake in 2016 to drop the hit single "One Dance" which eventually took him to the top, no 1 on billboard hot 100 song. With his big hit song Ojuelegba in 2016, he won the biggest prize in Africa music, to be crowned MTV Base Africa Artist of the year. And this starboy boss never stops, in 2017, with already two albums to his credit, the superstar is currently working on new joint that promises to take over the airwaves. Wizkid never disappoint and with his new release single “Sweet Love” he is truly not ready to slow down soon.

5.    Tripple MG Golden boy and talented Nigerian singer Tekno Miles drops a new single titled "Rara" and its taking the music industry’s attention, this can further prove that his craft is not a fluke and on every street in Nigeria. This song speaks about the ills in the society and the greed among the rich in Nigeria. The young and old are dancing to this great tune. You can only expect nothing but the best from this talented artiste.
